A misleadingly compact figure, Wriddhiman Saha belongs from a very small town of Siliguri. Though his achievements till date are so much that Indian cricket as well as thousands of fans of this sport wants to be like this man. A very humble and down to earth personality made his way through the under-19 and under-22 levels and at the same time got the golden opportunity to represent his home state in the Ranji Trophy. Saha managed to take the place of the former keeper Deep Dasgupta and made his debut in the year 2007. He made complete justice to the position he was playing.

He scored a century on his debut against Hyderabad and that was enough to catch the eyes of the selectors who were searching for players for the renowned IPL or Indian Premier League. He was drafted into KKR or well-known as Kolkata Knight Riders in 2008. He impressed everyone by working neatly from behind the stumps and also with his explosive hitting style in the death overs. His contribution to the Indian Team is also enormous. Many times, famous legends have praised Saha on the social media platform because of the different techniques he applies from behind the stumps as well as his batting skills.

Wriddhiman Saha’s debut in the Indian Team

Wriddhiman Saha stayed in the sidelines during the time of Dhoni revolutions. After some time, he got the call from the national team in 2010. He was picked as the reserve wicket-keeper for the home series. But fortunately, he got the chance to debut as the specialist batsman because of the injuries of Rohit Sharma and VVS Laxman. That time India had a heavy defeat but Saha continued to impress with his old fashioned 101 runs of 36 balls. This caught the eyes of the selectors and they appointed him as the reserve wicket-keeper in Test matches. He was also among the 16 members squad who travelled to Australia during 2011-12.  Saha managed to play another test match and showcased his skill in another test against Team Australia in Adelaide. He had some amazing skill of keeping and his ability to tackle the bouncy condition was also outstanding.

Saha impressed the selectors once again after the retirement of M.S Dhoni and presented himself more as a keeper than a batsman. He had some amazing quick reflexes and acrobatic skills of wicket-keeping. He is presently the regular wicket keeper in the tests. The athleticism of Saha behind the stumps against the fast-bowlers are way better from what Indian keepers have been living with. There is no such Indian keeper in the living memory who has such athleticism skills from behind the stumps. Experts and critics have lauded Saha for such skills.

Wriddhiman Saha– The Powerhouse of talent

Saha’s technique of playing speaks louder than words. He made a world record of 102 runs (not out) of 20 balls, 6 sixes in an over and also paved his name among the players scoring fastest century. His acrobatic style of keeping has also managed to take many one-handed catches. He is considered to be the powerhouse of motivation and dedication. In his recent game in the last IPL Saha celebrated his recalls to the Hyderabad team and made a sensational knock of 87 against the Delhi Capitals. He studied some 12 fours and a couple of sixes. He fully justified his place in the team and the faith the team showed on him. Recently Sachin Tendulkar has praised Wriddhiman Saha in the social media by saying that Saha played a very smart game and also improvised his shots. He also added that there was no slogging at all and Saha picked the line and length of the ball, therefore played a fantastic innings.
