The match between the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds quickly became a slugfest with a combination of 25 runs and 32 hits on Sunday.

The man to end this incredibly drawn out game was Nick Castellanos. He hit a walk-off single ensuring the victory to the Reds in a 13-12 win. Though closer for the Cubs, Craig Kimbrel tried his best; Castellanos took his team to triumph efficiently. It was the 5th hit of Nick in the game, along with being the 4th RBI. Castellanos was crucial in the two victories out of the three matches against the Chicago Cubs that led to overall winning of the weekend series.

The game on Sunday proved that sometimes no lead could be considered as safe. In fact, there was a moment when the Reds were leading by 6-4 at the end of three innings or 12-8 after the seventh one. However, each time, it could be seen that the Cubs responded with equal measure.

The Reds allowed Tejay Antone to attempt the seven-out save by providing a 4-run lead in the seventh inning of the game.

In the match, some excellent performances were observed. For instance, Tucker Barnhart hit a two-run homer along with Castellanos, who made a solo home run himself. It is vital to note that this was Castellanos’ second homer for the game, and he is now tied for the first position in the MLB score points with nine home runs to his credit.

However, the Cubs response was equally fantastic. Firstly, they hit four runs in the eighth inning against Antone. After that, Jake Marisnick, the well-renowned pitch-hitter, thumped the RBI single. Then, Ian Happ followed the winning pattern with a three-run homer, tying the game.

Without a doubt, the two teams played excellently and left the audience in guesses about the winning team.

But, there was an incident that led to Happ being pulled out of the game. Collision with Nico Hoerner, the second baseman, led to injury to Happ. The rest of the players of the Cubs called for trainers, after which he was carried out from the field.

In the sixth inning, the Reds sped ahead due to the RBI double that Hoerner hit. It broke off the 6-6 tie that the Cubs put. The next player to deliver two-run single and two-out was the impeccable Eugenio Suárez.

With a batting average of .125, Suárez entered the game on Sunday. Though it was three points less than the average rate of the pitchers, David Bell, manager of the Reds, had faith in him. Needless to say, Suárez lived up to the expectations with a home run to the center field along with three hits. His partnership with Moustakas was also impressive in the 3rd inning.

Sunday’s game was clearly one of those types where the ball was constantly being hit. That brings the match to an interesting comparison. GABP witnessed ten homers previously on 14th April 2014 with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

With two series winning, the Cincinnati Reds will play on Monday with the record of 13-14.
