Tiger Woods has already suffered a lot in terms because of his back problem. On Tuesday, he disclosed that he was undergoing his fifth surgery, which means he has to hold on starting this year. He has to wait until the west coast swing on the PGA Tour.

Woods did not appear in the next week game of Farmers Insurance Open held at Torrey Pines. He has a record of winning the tournament seven times; most recent was in the year 2013. He was also the winner of the US Open in 2008 at Torrey Pines. The US Open is again going to be hosted in June.

He also missed appearing as tournament host in the Genesis Invitational on Feb 18-21 at Riviera.

In a statement, Woods said in his TGR Foundation and tweeted that he had to go through microdiscectomy surgery. It was to cure the chronic nerve pain caused by a disc fragment’s pressure during the PNC championship. He played the tournament last month with 11-year-old son Charlie.

The doctor says, the operation was very successful and that Woods will make a full recovery.

Woods said he looks ahead to begin training and focus on returning out on tour.

The last time Woods won at Torrey Pines is where the problem with his back surface began. After that, he had to go through his first microdiscectomy right before his 2014 Masters. Then again, he received two more surgeries in September and October 2015.

In April 2017, he had his fourth surgery, and this was a major one, to put together his lower spine. Finally, Woods returned with a bang by winning the 2018 championship, his first in 5 years. Afterwards, he capped it off by winning Masters 2019, his fifteenth major and his first in eleven years.

When Woods won the Zozo championship 2019 in Japan, he tied Sam Snead’s PGA victory record no. 82. We all knew this record was just a matter of time for Woods. But he was not involved in any bitter dispute last year. However, missed the full month because of minor back issues before pandemic happened and golf was shut-down.

When he finally returned in July, he ended up with a tie for 37th at the PGA open championship in 7 tournaments he played. In the rest of the matches, he cut and finished with 107 shots out of the lead.

In November he said, his body in some moments doesn’t work like it usually does. No matter how hard he tries or pushes his body, it doesn’t work at times. This scenario sometimes makes it difficult to motivate himself.

This back problem aches a lot, and he has to deal with it, which he did not experience before. Woods is planning to appear at Riviera as a host for the tournament. He said that he is going to miss Torrey Pines and Riviera. And he is not very sure of his schedule in recent years.
