Federal police arrested two-time major golf winner Angel Cabera in Brazil based on Interpol red notice. He was arrested against alleged crimes committed by him in Argentina. A report maintained by federal police in Rio de Janeiro mentions the suspect’s appearance. It showed a police officer arrested an unnamed argentine of 51 years of age on Friday.

An officer of Rio de Janeiro, who doesn’t want to be identified, shares the person’s identity. He said the person arrested on Friday was the famous golfer and champion El Pato. Angel Cabera, famous as “El Pato,” is the winner of both Masters and the U.S. Open. Two federal officers confirmed to the press that the man was Cabera, who was arrested. But they will give further information only if their identity remains anonymous. They want to keep it anonymous since they are not allowed to speak about it publicly.

The police officer continued that the order of arresting Cabera came from Brazil’s top court, and he will be held until his deportation to Argentina. Angel Cabera has been charged as a suspect for theft, assault, continuous disrespect to authority, and illegal intimidation.

Moreover, this is not the first time that the golfer suffered an allegation. In 2017 he was investigated for causing injuries to Cecilia Torres Mana, an ex-partner. The proof submitted by his ex-partners is challenging to read, though it seems it can cost Cabera high. It can be a long and burdensome road for the 2009 master champion in the time ahead as he will wait for his trials.

Angel Cabera has a history of winning the 2007 U.S Open at Oakmont and the 2009 Masters at Augusta National. He has recently been qualified for the PGA tour championship and has also played events. He has just one more win left in his career. After that win, he will be in the top 10 to win ten different major championships.

The police statement says the Brazil Supreme Court has come out with an arrest warrant for deportation, and the court will send the person to prison until then. Cabera is held charged for assaulting his ex-girlfriend in Argentina along with a misdemeanor crime of theft.

In August, Miguel Gavier told the press that Angel Cabera had denied all the crimes. He said he sees no point why the Interpol red notice was issued for Argentina. His clients are cooperating, and he has a signed statement from the prosecution mentioning Cabera doesn’t need to gather permission to travel. Last year, the court ordered that Cabera has the liberty to stay. But he has to maintain a well-established residence in Argentina. Also, Cabera has to appear whenever the court summons him.

The judge said that he is innocent for both cases according to the evidence that he has presented. The police of Rio de Janeiro arrested Cabera in a flat in Leblon. They said he was surprised at the moment but cooperated with the arrest and did not attempt to escape.
