The chief of Tokyo Olympic might resign as sexist comments grow over

The president of the organizing committee of Tokyo Olympic said that he might resign because of the comments he made about women. In case the calls for the president to leave strengthen, he might do that without a second thought. This was quoted by the Mainichi newspaper, which interviewed the president this Thursday.

The president of the Tokyo Olympic organizing committee, Mr. Yoshiro Mori, is Japan’s former prime minister. Being the head of the Tokyo organizing, his sexist comments were not accepted by Japan’s public. His words caused an uproar with remarks that he claimed that when meetings held with women consume much more time. This is simply because they talk a lot, and that isn’t very pleasant.

The Japanese people make a strong and robust protest because of such a comment from the former prime minister of Japan and now the president of Tokyo’s organizing committee. Because of Mori’s anger, there are much public who are opposing the fact of conducting the games in Tokyo due to the pandemic.

Due to Mori’s comments, there are many renowned personalities who are also expressing their anger via different social media posts. There is also a protest carried on by Japan’s public statement to “Mori, please resign.”

It is being estimated that nearly about 80% of Japan’s people is opposing the fact of holding the games in July as scheduled. This estimation is due to the recent polls Beijing had.

Mori’s comments caused an immediate disturbance on social media, which is even flooded by the hashtag, ” Mori, please resign.” It was trending on different social media sites, including Twitter, on Thursday morning. 

Noriko Mizoguchi, the former judo silver medalist, also showed an apparent protest of Mori’s comments. According to Noriko Mizoguchi, the code of ethics of the International Olympic Committee is known by everyone. Therefore any type of misconduct or harassment should not be accepted and immediately subjected to rejection.  

According to a prominent opposition lawmaker, Renho, the comments made by Mori is shameful. She also stated that the comments made by Mori is just the opposite of the Olympics spirit. The spirit of the Olympics opposes discrimination and also calls for solidarity, friendship as well as fairness.
