MS Dhoni- The unforgettable hero
MS Dhoni is a famous Indian international Cricketer who recently decided to retire from International Cricket. He is regarded as the only captain in Indian history who has won all the ICC trophies. He also managed to captain the entire Indian National Team in the formats of the limited over and again in Test Cricket from the year 2007 to 2016 and 2008 to 2014, respectively.
Family history
He was born on 1981, the 7th of July, in Ranchi, Bihar. His family was a Hindu Rajput family of Devki Devi and Pan Singh. MS Dhoni’s paternal village was in Almora, Langara block, Uttarakhand. Later his father moved to Ranchi from Uttarakhand and started to work in the position of junior management in MECON. MS Dhoni also had a sister named Jayanti Gupta and a brother named Narendra Singh Dhoni. He also completed his schooling at Ranchi, Jharkhand, and continued to excel in various sports and cricket. He showed his impressive wicket-keeping skills from 1995 to 1998 at the Commando Cricket Club and was picked for the Vinoo Mankad Trophy for the Under-16 Championship for the 1997 to 1998 session. He played well during that time. After completing his high school degree, he kept on focusing on cricket.
During the year 2001 to 2003, Dhoni was a travelling Ticket Examiner or TTE at the Kharagpur Railway Station.
His career at a glance
Till the year 1998, MS Dhoni continued to play for his club cricket and school cricket team until he was selected for the CCL Team or Central Coalfields Limited team. CCL managed to move to A division. With outstanding dedication and unique skills, Dhoni was chosen for the Bihar team. From 1999 to 2000, Dhoni was selected in the senior section of the Bihar Ranji when he was 18 years old. The Bihar under-19 made its way to the finals but unfortunately could not make it. Later on, he was selected for the u-19 East Zone squad for the CK Naidu trophy.
Dhoni gained recognition for his outstanding contribution in the lower order and the tremendous hard-hitting style of batting in the year 2002 to 2003 when he was playing for the Deodhar Trophy and Ranji Trophy in the Jharkhand team.
International cricketer Deep Dasgupta picked up MS Dhoni in the Duleep Trophy Finals to represent the East Zone. Prakash Poddar, the Bengal team captain in the 1960s, spotted MS Dhoni by the small town initiative of picking up the talent. He was further sent to the NCA or National Cricket Academy.
Dhoni was later selected for the India A team for the Kenya and Zimbabwe tours. Dhoni’s outstanding performance grabbed the then-Indian Cricket Team’s Captain- Sourav Ganguly and Ravi Shastri. Later on, Dhoni was selected for the One Day International team for the Bangladesh Tour in 2004 and 2005. Dhoni created a record by scoring the highest score made by any Indian wicket-keeper. India could not make it to the 2007 Cricket World Cup. Dhoni’s poor performance at that time made the JMM commit a strenuous activity by vandalizing his house. Even his family was also provided special protection by the police due to the exit of the Indian team from the World Cup.
Dhoni, later on, became the vice-captain for the series against England and South Africa. After that, he was also selected as the captain of the Indian Cricket Team. In the year 2009, Dhoni topped in the ranking of the ICC ODI batsman. Dhoni performed extra-ordinarily against Sri Lanka by chasing the target of 275 runs in the finals with Yuvraj Singh and Gautam Gambhir. He also finished the match with one outstanding six, and his score was 91, not out. He got the Man of the Match award for the performance.
In the year 2013, Dhoni became the one and only captain and the first captain in the history of Indian Cricket who could claim all the ICC trophies. The same year, he also became the second batsman of Indian Cricket after Sachin Tendulkar, who had scored 1,000 or even more one-day international runs against Australia.
The Chennai Super Kings franchise selected Dhoni, and he is still the captain of the team. He retired from international cricket but kept on playing for the IPL.
Personal life
Dhoni married his schoolmate Sakshi Singh Rawat in the year 2010. The couple gave birth to a baby girl named Ziva in the year 2015.
