FIFA sets a target till late 2021 to pick up World Cup Cities for Canada, Mexico, and USA

In these challenging times of the pandemic, some good news can be set for the 2026 world cup. There are new targets that are given by FIFA to find out all the cities that will be fit to conduct the World Cup matches.

The new target was set on Tuesday for finalizing the Cities of North America that can host the cities for the 2026 World Cup if the worldwide pandemic allows. There are some changes that are put by FIFA, which says that out of 23 countries, the names of the 16 countries must be announced first. The alteration in the declaring the decision made the number of FIFA. 

FIFA needs to confirm the name of the cities by the end of 2021.

There are several guidelines that need to be followed by FIFA due to the worldwide outbreak of coronavirus. Despite the advent of the vaccine for the coronavirus, there are many restrictions that need to be followed while setting venues for the World Cup. Officials must keep several factors in mind before confirming the cities for the matches. 

The pre-pandemic schedule was different, and it nearly called for the cities that hosted the first 48 teams that hosted the World Cup. the prepandemic plan had likely about ten cities in the United States and three cities each in Mexico and Canada. This has to be picked up early in 2021. 

The deadline of this procedure will solely depend upon the officials of FIFA. They will take the trips for inspections to all the seventeen cities in the United States and three cities each in Mexico and Canada.

According to the governing body, the visits to these cities will only take place if the safety and the health measures allow FIFA to do so in the host countries. The officials are keeping the safety measures the priority as the pandemic situations are much different from before.

The maximum of the venues in the United States will be the NFL stadiums. They are the New York Jets and New York Giants home expected to organize the final on 12th July 2026. According to FIFA’s statement, after realizing the commercial potentiality of each of the venues and the sustainability, event legacy and human rights are the essential factors and of utmost importance.

There will be 80 games of the first World Cup with forty-eight teams instead of 64 games. When the bidding contest won in 2018, the proposal was made to play ten games each in Mexico and Canada and 60 games in the United States. 

The USA’s cities hosting the world are Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Cincinnati, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, New Jersey/New York, Orlando, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Bay Area, Seattle, Washington D.C.

The cities in Canada are Edmonton, Montreal, Toronto, and Mexico’s cities are Guadalajara, Mexico City, and Monterrey.
