Covid fear and other diplomatic issues prevent North Korea from indulging in the Tokyo Olympics

The sports minister of Pyongyang declared that this year’s Tokyo Olympics would not see North Korea’s participation because of the coronavirus pandemic. This killed the hope of Seoul to resume communication with its nuclear-armed neighbour with the excuse of Tokyo games.  The games of the last winter, which was hosted by the south in Pyeongchang, saw the secluded north’s participation, which a significant stimulant became in the political agreement of 2018.
