Albert Haynesworth is the former player of Tennessee football and NFL. He is calling to boycott the volunteer’s football program. In one of his Facebook posts reacting to Josh Heupel’s hiring, he called the Black alumni so that they can join him in the boycotting movement. Josh Heupel was being named as the Volunteers 27th coach on the last Wednesday. He wants to boycott Tennessee football because of the primary reason for citing “systematic racism”.

Haynesworth was extremely upset at the same time to make a criticism about Tennesse for failing to have an interview with Vols’ coach of wide receivers, Tee Martin. He was also the former quarterback who was considered for opening. The Vols’ signed Haynesworth in 1999. When Haynesworth signed Tennesse, it was just a few months after Martin’s Tennesse was into the modern national championship.

According to Haynesworth Tennessee Vols have taken Tee Martin for granted. And Haynesworth has written in a post that why one should curse on him and reduce the salary. According to him, it is because he is black, and UT did not even interview him.

According to Haynesworth, he decided not to attend any games or even support one until and unless he encounters any university change that he is so much in love with. He also clarified that Tennessee had also not paid its Black coaches their dues. He also mentioned that this injustice also happened with the former assistant Kippy Brown who was in the list of candidates in 2009.

In another post, Haynesworth also wrote that the majority of the players of Tennessee are African-American; therefore, what is the issue in putting an African-American coach for the players so that he can lead them. They must put someone as a coach who had won Tennessee a championship. But they always end up putting someone except a qualified black man.

Randy Boyd is the UT System President who was giving an interview last week with Knoxville News. He was asked that is iiit fair for the university to expect to produce diversity hires for different positions, especially for the head coach position and athletic director. He explained that it is a very much crucial desire and consideration, but in the end, we need to act on how and what kind of choices will be the best for the future of the UT.

According to Boyd, the priority will be the one who can contribute a lot for the betterment of UT. Still, at the same time, UT will also consider different opportunities to improve diversity. The former Lady basketball player of Vols’, Kara Lawson in June called on the university. She was to examine whether variety lacks in its athletics department leadership or not. Lawson was among the Board of Trustees since 2018 and is now the coach of Duke’s basketball team.

Haynesworth is not advocating the matter for Martin alone. Peerless Price also posted on Twitter that he had a devastating conversation with Martin.
