Things started for Ash Barty as the Open tuneup events in Australia was resumed. The tuneup event was resumed this Friday following a day off, unscheduled for the COVID-19 case. The case of coronavirus was coming from one of the hotels where everyone was staying in quarantine.
In the total of six tournaments a day after that, all the matches were postponed because 160 players can stay in isolation and at the same time undergo testing for COVID-19. There were a total of 70 games in order, according to the organizers, to play. The organizers tried their level best to revise all the lead-in matches that are scheduled in all three days before the start of the first major of the year on Monday.
Barty is at her top-rank and, at the same time, got her initial taste of the scoring system that is modified. The modified scoring system helps to shorten matches in a more derange schedule. This will also help to dominate a tiebreaker in a game to defeat Shelby Rogers 7-5, then 2-6, and lastly, 10-4. And further, the move will be into Yarra Valley Classic semifinals.
Barty is expected to meet Serena William or Danielle Collins the next. Serena Williams is the 23 times winner of the Grand Slam, and Danielle is the 13th-seeded. They are all meeting in the quarterfinal of all-American.
The result of the Australian Open Final, Sofia Kenin was defeated by Garbine Muguruza by 6-2, 6-2 to advance into the semifinals. Kenin beat Muguruza in the final of 2020 in all complete three sets, which includes 6-2 scores in the two groups of the final.
A radio interview was done by the Australian Open tournament director, Craig Tiley before the play started. During the interview, it was announced that several 507 people were tested who had connections with the tournament’s quarantine hub test and had been tested. Out of 507 people, 495 of them have already been tested negative for the COVID-19. Out of 507, the results of 12 people are still on the pending list.
The play was halted because, after quarantine, it was considered as a precaution for the workers who have tested positive for the coronavirus this week. This was much later after the last shift at the hotel. All the workers working for the tournament simultaneously all the players residing at the Grand Hyatt were included in the list of casual contacts. This Friday, the State Health Authorities claimed that there were no more community transmission cases in the last 24 hours.
