AICF is about to start League and bid for Chess Olympiad
India is deciding to bid for the Chess Olympiad this year. There are a few points that need to be highlighted in this regard.
AICF or The All India Chess Federation has confirmed this Sunday that they are going to bid for the next edition that is available for the Olympiad. They also announced that they are going to start an Indian Chess League this year, which is going to be of a very high profile.
For the purpose of Olympiad, a foolproof bid would be prepared, when the process will start.
Sanjay Kapoor is the newly elected president of AICF. He disclosed a representation so that India can be turned into a superpower of Chess. He conducted the plan at one of the press conferences after the AGM or Annual General Meeting being held by the federation. He said that the member of AICF wants the country to become one of the chess destinations for the entire world. He also added that the federation has one detailed plan so that the goal can be achieved easily.
Mr Kapoor also added that the Annual General Meeting has decided that The Women’s Grand Pix will be hosted by the federation. This is another vital part of the cycle of the world championship. This cycle will also tend to give a big boost to all the women players in the entire country.
Sanjay Kapoor also stated that not just motivating the players, AICF will also start the AICF-Chess in the programme of the schools. This will help to popularize the game at the school level. According to him, all the 33 states that are affiliated will implement this decision simultaneously. According to him, AICF wants every school going kid shows interest in this sport and at the same time play this sport also. This will tend to develop a smart future generation. The game also offers life-skill benefits that come naturally.
Some of the other big decisions that are taken by AICF at the AGM consists of single window registration for every player, the inception of a Centre of Excellence and Organisation of the Super Tournament. Kapoor also explained that this tournament will also see many players of the top-level in action. This action will give a chance to all the higher-ranked GMs a chance to take part with the best in this sport at home. This will at the same time help the upcoming youngsters to upgrade their knowledge about the game by watching them from close quarters.
The secretary of AICF, Mr Bharat Singh Chauhan also explained the seriousness of the single window registration process by adding that from now onwards every player will be able to register for the district he/she is living in, for the state and also for the AICF. Chauhan added that the Centre of Excellence will also assist to tap and train the talents at the base level and have the ultimate vision of inundating minimum lof 10 players from the country among the top 50 rankings of the entire world.
