The failure of the European super league as six English clubs withdraw
The European super league’s recently initiated competition is in doubt as six major groups, namely Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Totten Ham, resigned from the European super league on Thursday. Angered criticisms from fans and warnings from football authorities were the associated consequence of the withdrawal of the English clubs leading to a lifeless team. Six among the twelve members, who were registered with the completion, were guaranteed spots every year and billion dollars revenue for the founding members. There have been devastating responses to the plans as football authorities and politicians jeopardize them to take legitimate action in opposition to the “dirty dozen”, who declared that they went through severe suppression from national and international competitors.
Immediately after 48 hours of the announcement of the super league, Manchester City was the first in the line of withdrawal, followed by Liverpool, united, arsenal, Totten ham and Chelsea. The European super league is left with only six Italian and Spanish teams, namely Barcelona, real Madrid, Atlántico Madrid, inter Milan, ac Milan and Juventus.
Arsenal expressed their regret to the fans for their mistake. Manchester United reported the withdrawal of ed Woodward who is executive vice-chairman. The arsenal declared that they decided to withdraw from the suggested super league as a consequence of paying attention to the broader football community recently. They expressed their regret and admitted that they are sorry for it. The super league said that the subsiding system is inactive, and it would search for ways to save the initiative. They said that they would think about the appropriate steps to organize the project.
AleksanderCaferin, who is the president of UEFA, was delighted, and the English football association embraced the resignation of the English clubs. They acknowledged the fan for their effect and unambiguous opinion.
French giants Paris Saint Germaine and Bayern Munich, who are the European champions, withdrew from the super league and strictly contradicted the league. Jordan Henderson, who is the Liverpool captain, put forward a statement representing the squad on Twitter saying that they don’t prefer it, neither do they want it to proceed. That is their collaborative position. Amidst all the conflicts and complications, the resignation of Woodward at the end of 2021 was declared by Manchester united.
Previously while addressing the owners of the premium league teams, Caferin said that there was still time for the withdrawal of the clubs. He said that there are people who will say it is the unawareness of the football culture of England while some others will say that it is greed, but everyone makes a mistake and there is enough time to alter their mind.
Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA, produced a special caution to the relevant clubs registered to the ESL. At a UEFA’s congress which is held in Switzerland, Infantino said that it is their job to give security to the sport model of Europe; thus, if someone chooses their way, then they must have the capacity to survive with the outcome of their choices.
In Chelsea, the Stamford Bridge stadium saw the gathering of more than 1000 fans who were expressing opposition against the plan prior to the premier league match, which was held against Brighton on Tuesday and concluded in a 0-0 draw. The posters held by the fans read “created by the poor, stolen by the rich”, “RIP football 1863-2021″, “we want our cold nights in stroke” and “roman does the right thing”, which is directed to Roman Abramovich who is the owner of Chelsea. Tom Cunningham said that he was over the moon when he came to know that Chelsea is also going to withdraw. He said that greed had not advanced further because the fans are protesting against the repulsive greed, and they have succeeded. Boris Johnson, who is the British prime minister, has promised to do everything possible to destroy the ESL plan, as said in a meeting that included the premier league clubs, the FA and the fan groups.
